Dadhood Reminder: Count Your Blessings

Posted by on Sep 5, 2013 in Dadhood, Dadhood Reminders | No Comments

Perhaps the most simple reminder that we need as dads is to count our blessings.

Dads, we need to be thankful every day for the gift of our children.

Even on the most chaotic days, find reasons to be thankful for your kids.

The Creator of the Universe has specifically chosen your kids to be a part of your family. And he has specifically chosen you to be their parents. It’s literally a match made in heaven, and his plan is perfect.

So make the effort to be thankful for each of your kids, every day.

One of the ways I remind myself of this is to keep pictures of each of my kids on my desk and other strategic locations in my everyday routine. Seeing my kids helps to remind me to be thankful for them continually.

Take to heart this message from Psalm 127:3-5a:

Children are a heritage from the Lord,
   offspring a reward from him.
Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.

Be deliberate, Dad!

Have you thanked God for your children today? If not, why not take the time to do it right now? You can leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
