One of the more entertaining elements of our Family Advent Nights each year are the family game nights or the family movie nights.
These are simply what their names state. As a family we watch a movie together, or play a game together. It’s really simple, and yet it’s a lot of fun.
Sometimes, our schedules get so busy that it’s hard to fit these nights in, but we make it a priority to do this as often as we can throughout the month of December. We do this through the rest of the year as well, but in December, everything has a Christmas theme.
Family Movie Nights
Movie nights are pretty easy and fun. We simply gather the family and watch a movie together, usually with a snack in hand. There are several incredible movies that are well worth watching together, and we enjoy the time as we smile and laugh at the antics on the screen. Here is a brief list of some of our favorite Christmas movies. You can pick up each of these at Amazon.

There are more, but these are some of our most favorite ones.
Family Game Nights
Sometimes, we don’t want to be glued to the screen, and have some more interaction between family members. On these nights, we play a game together. This creates plenty of opportunities to laugh and have fun. But we have to watch our more competitive kids; they tend to get grumpy if they lose. We intentionally keep it light and fun.
Here are some of the games we like to play:

Both of these activities provide some great opportunities to spend some quality time together as a family celebrating Christmas. The only major difficulty comes in the scheduling. Dads, you have to make this a priority and make it happen, or it won’t. So take the initiative and set aside a few nights this season for some fun family time together.
You’ll be glad you did!
Be deliberate, Dad!
